RFA of tibial osteoid osteoma

This is a 13-years old body who came with pain in the leg for 6 months. He was lucky to be diagnosed reasonably early with an osteoid osteoma of the posterior cortex of the tibia (Fig. 1).

After counselling, he was taken up for RFA. This was a relatively simple procedure. The electrode was introduced into the osteoid osteoma (Fig. 2).

The post-RFA image shows the tract of ablation well.

The boy was pain free in 24 hours. He had residual post-procedure discomfort for 48 hours that reduced on its own. He is still pain free.
